Ethan started 2nd Grade today! He was pretty excited to be able to start 2nd grade, finally! He has waited his whole life to be in 2nd Grade! :) He had a great day and likes his teacher and the kids in his class. He wore his Angry Birds T-shirt and has an Angry Birds backpack, it isn't his favorite video game, but he thinks that the Angry Birds are pretty cool!

Julia started 3rd Grade this year! She can't believe that she is now the big kid at school. This is the last year for Julia and Ethan to both be in elementary school. She is very excited to be a 4th grader next year and go to the intermediate school. She has a very nice teacher as well and has most of the kids from her class last year in this year's class, which is wonderful, she knows and likes most of them. They all seem to be good kids!

We are looking forward to a great year full of fun and learning!

Jan - April 2012

Julia and Ethan having fun feeding the ducks in January, yep they are wearing shorts! It was beautiful!

Ethan lost his two front teeth! He was super happy to have them finally out!

Julia and Ethan at a local art park!

This is Julia's garden. This year we decided to have the kids be in charge of their own section of the garden. They got to choose what they planted. Julia chose a raspberry bush, parsley-for the swallowtail caterpillars and a pretty pink flowering perennial.

Ethan chose an everbearing strawberry and petunias. We will be protecting the berries from the birds this year because last year they ate all the berries just before we could pick them! Ethan was very disappointed.

Julia and Ethan have both had the honor of being chosen a Kiwanis Terrific Kid. That was a big achievement for both of them!
Ethan and Julia have a very expressive art teacher whom they love! Below are the artworks that they made for the art show. Julia won 2 ribbons, 1st and 2nd place!

We went to Springfield to celebrate Easter this year. The children all had fun finding Easter Eggs all over the farm. Ethan had the most eggs as far as we could tell!

Julia has started softball this year and absolutely loves it. She is #20 and her team is called the Farmington Edge. She has great coaches and good girls on her team. This is the first time she was up to bat in her scrimmage.

JC Becomes a Teenager

Today JC turns 13. I wish it was a joke. He is growing up so quickly. Yesterday he was a bit disappointed that his birthday fell on Sunday and General Conference weekend. We planned accordingly and celebrated Friday night. Jamey and JC also got tickets to attend the Priesthood Session of General Conference. JC was o.k with that, but wasn't thrilled about it taking most of the evening. They had to leave by 4 to get there on time and wouldn't be back until after 9. Despite his reticence it turned out really good. He came home and said he liked it, it was more personal, like the Prophet is talking directly to you. We were happy with that and understood his general disappointment of not doing something "fun" on his birthday. As I was typing the caption on the picture below, I started with "J.C.'s birthday landed on Sunday this year" and then I got up to get something. He sat down and started to type. He typed that the best gift he got was attending the Priesthood Session. He really meant it. We are so proud of the young man JC is and how he continues to grow.

The Final Day

Tomorrow JC becomes a teenager, so hard to believe that in a few hours he will be a teenager.

Tonight Jamey and JC had the opportunity to attend the Priesthood session of General Conference. It is amazing how much JC has grown in the last year. Here he is with Jamey before Priesthood Session last year and this year. He still isn't taller than me, that will only last for one more growth spurt. As for being taller than Jamey we are voting that by 16 he will be taller. JC is voting for 15.
